November 11th. The 31st Annual Kyokushin International Federation of Karate Tournament in Holley NY. Our small team of four brought their best. The competition was tough being a truly international crowd who all came to win.
When the dust settled we stood in the winners circle. All our players medaled! Osu!
Seven year old Grace took silver in both weapon demonstration and open hand forms, as well as bronze in semi contact fighting. Her brother Nayib took bronze in weapon demonstration, silver in open hand forms, and silver in light weight semi contact fighting.
Our adults did well too. Darren took gold in both weapon demonstration and open hand forms, he just missed medaling in middle weight semi contact fighting. Sam took silver in weapon demonstration, bronze in open hand forms, and bronze in heavyweight fighting.
We did our best to represent our Goshindo Karate tradition as well as the World Shin Karate Organization SOSHINKAIKAN to which we proudly belong.
We thank the organizers for an excellent event. The Martial Virtue demonstrated on the mat was exceptional. A true expression of Bushido and international friendship through sport.
We return to our Dojo to carry back our victories but more importantly the lessons we learned. We will analyze our performances, attitudes, and efforts, then refine our training and keep working to bring forth the best versions of ourselves both on and off the mat. That is the truest goal in our martial arts.
The next IFK event is in January in Atlantic City during the Martial Arts Mega Weekend. We will be there…
Osu!
